Goodwill
Fire Company of Bally, PA
operates six vehicles:
2002 Four Guys Tanker/Pumper;
1995 HME Pumper;
2007 Freightliner/Saulsbury Rescue Truck;
1977
Chevy Tanker;
1973 Jeep Brush Truck; and
1998 Dodge
Utility Van.
Our new 2007 Freightliner
Rescue Truck has been delivered back to the station and
is now back on the street. See photos below. Our rescue truck responds to more calls
that any of the other trucks operated by the company and has
served the department well but twenty years of calls had
taken its toll and it needed major work. A new rescue vehicle
costs more than $325,000, but the body of this one was still
in good condition.
The old rescue truck was taken to a factory in
the Harrisburg area in January 2007, where its still serviceable body was remounted on onto the new Freightliner chassis for a cost
of less than $200,000. It was returned to us in the summer
of 2007. The savings to the community was
more than
$150,000 over the cost of a new rescue truck. While that was
being refurbished, our rescue equipment responded in a pumper on loan from Topton and
our utility van.

Thank you Topton Fire
for the use of the old Mack all these months.
It's been a real
experience! |
